Immediate Area Surrounding Icon Vallarta
In the immediate area surrounding Icon Vallarta you will find all the necessities. There are restaurants, a convenient store, a grocery store, a Starbucks and more. When going to the grocery store, be sure to follow the red line on the map, through the alleyway and avoid the walk around the building.
A broader view of the area shows even more options. This includes a Walmart and Sams Club for your convenience. Please note that the walk is a bit more than 7 minutes. perhaps 10-15 minutes. The La Isla Shopping Center is a great outdoor mall with a fantastic variety of stores.
Step out onto the beach and you will find all kinds of activities from parasailing to jet skiing and even book your fishing adventure. In some cases the fishing guides will even pick you up right at the beach.
Head Out For an Adventure
The beach in front of the Icon Vallarta stretches a long way towards town. Head out for a stroll in the morning or evening. Eventually some stretches will get a little rocky. You can pass them if you wish to continue your walk, but you may wish you had footwear.
Vallarta Adventures is a proven source for all kinds of adventures. They will take you zip lining, fishing, on an ATV tour, snorkeling at Los Arcos, to the hidden beach at Marietas Islands (photo to the right), swimming with the dolphins, see the Rhythms of the Night at Las Caletas Beach Hideaway. For the more adventurous, you can enjoy the hike from Boca De Tomatlan to Las Animas beach. This hike is a little more difficult than your standard walk, so bring some good shoes and enjoy some of the many beaches along the way. Las Animas offers a variety of beach restaurants for you to satisfy your appetite after the hike.

Archies Wok
While Puerto Vallarta is loaded with fantastic dining options, we are always drawn back to Archies Wok for the best Asian fusion around. The friendly staff and great service add to the experience. If you are not afraid of a little spice, try the Szechuan Margarita for a nice twist on an old classic.
Happy Lobster
This wonderful, authentic seafood restaurant is slightly off the beaten path but delicious. Hidden in a local neighborhood, you will find great seafood options with service and a smile.
Daiquiri Dicks
For those of you that want to dine with a sunset view, this is a consistent staple in the Puerto Vallarta food scene. Sit on their patio just steps off the beach and enjoy any option from this wonderful menu.
La Dolce Vita
Now with two locations, this restaurant can be enjoyed at its original location on the malecon or in from the new location in old town (romantic zone). Serving great Italian food that won't disappoint.
Los Alcatraces
Wake up and make a trip to the marina to enjoy looking at the boats. While you're there, be sure to stop at this restaurant for a fantastic breakfast. If you like French toast, theirs can't be beat.
Pipis
Did someone say margaritas??? This is the spot. Known for its big margaritas, table side guacamole and lively atmosphere, this place won't disappoint. The wait can be long so, show up early or be prepared to wait.
Pancho's Takos
Never mind the line, it's there for a reason. It won't take as long as you think and these tacos are well worth it!
Porto Bellos
If you're a boat lover, head to the marina for some awesome boats and stay for some awesome food. This Italian restaurant offers fantastic food with view of the big boats. On Thursday nights, a market moves into the marina making a fun and lively spot to be. It may be a good idea to couple these events.
Rincon de Buenos Aires
Another marina favorite of ours. Again, see the boats and stay for the great food. Although it is an Argentinian Steak House, the menu offers a wide variety of items that will please all palates.
Joe Jack's Fish Shack
Back to old town (romantic zone) for some great seafood. This spot offers a great atmosphere, great service and great food.
